TEAM NEWS
Deakin Melbourne Boomers
The Boomers have taken 10 players to Canberra for Friday night’s game. The only change to last week’s team in Sydney is Ash Grant has come into the team, while Jaz Shelley is on national duty with the Gems in India.
UC Capitals
The Capitals are expected to put the same team on the floor as they had in Geelong last round, plus the addition of Leilani Mitchell, who returned to action last Sunday in Canberra when the Capitals beat Adelaide.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Deakin Melbourne Boomers
Sarah Boothe: The Chicago native made a big impact in Sydney last Sunday when she was called upon to quell the influence of Alex Bunton. Expect Boothe to play a similar role against Canberra’s strong inside players.
Lindsay Allen: Melbourne’s No.15 was in great touch against Sydney, leading the charge with 23pts and earning a spot in the league’s Team of the Week. Allen’s match-up with Leilani Mitchell will be a key feature in this contest.
UC Capitals
Kelsey Griffin: The Opal was shining last round and took the honours as the league’s Player of the Week. Her performances last weekend included a match-winning 23pt haul against the Boomers.
Leilani Mitchell: The experienced PG is one of the competition’s premier players and will be central to Canberra’s chances in this game. Back from injury and finding her feet, expect Mitchell to play 30-plus minutes.
