Ultimate Game Guide: Boomers look to bounce back against the Capitals

November 6, 2019 | Melbourne Boomers news

Following a devastating first loss of the season on Monday to the Southside Flyers, the Deakin Melbourne Boomers will be looking to bounce back against the UC Capitals on Saturday night.

When the two teams met in Geelong in round three, the Boomers dominated in a 35-point defeat of the reigning WNBL champions.

Coming off their Cup Eve Derby defeat, the Boomers will be determined to show it was just a blip and cement their place behind the Flyers at the top of the WNBL ladder.

Both teams are packed with stars; Boomers’ Lindsay Allen and Caps’ Olivia Epoupa have both recorded 30 assists so far this season, Kelsey Griffin is leading in rebounds averaging 11.5 per game, and Cayla George boasts an impressive field goal percentage of 52.

Boomers can be sure to expect a stronger defensive game from the Caps this week, an area they struggled on a humbling night in Geelong.

Penina Davidson is looking forward to meeting with the Caps again,

“[We’re] coming off a tough weekend it’ll be good to be back at it, at home against another really good team.”
