TRIPLE BOOM – GEORGE, MAGBEGOR AND MADGEN MAKE OPALS TEAM

Three Boomers are set to represent Australia at the Olympics in Tokyo with Ezi Magbegor, Tess Madgen and Cayla George all selected to as part of the Opals team that will challenge for Gold in July.

Their inclusion in the Opals team comes off the back of a strong WNBL season for each, with George earning a place in the All Star 5 and Magbegor and Madgen earning a place in the All Star 5 second team.

George will compete in her second Olympics after representing Australia at Rio in 2016, while Magbegor and Madgen are set to make their Olympic debuts.

The Australian Opals are currently ranked second in the World and are expected to be one of the teams to beat.

The selection of these three Boomers players shows the incredible talent in Melbourne and that Boomers fans can expect big things from these stars in WNBL 21-22.

Boomers Head Coach, Guy Molloy, was thrilled for the trio.

“All three of these athletes deserve their spot on the Opals team. They’ve worked incredibly hard, and had strong performances in the WNBL in recent years.

From a Boomers perspective it shows the quality of athlete that will be on court for us this season.

The Olympics begin in Tokyo on 23 July and run until 8 August.
