The Deakin Melbourne Boomers are pleased to announce that Sherrie Calleia has been signed for the remainder of the WNBL Cygnett 2023/24 season.

Having played 11 games as an injury replacement player for Kristy Wallace who is expected to return to play in January (more to come on this in the next few days).

Calleia has been an important part of the guard rotation averaging 8 minutes per game.

Sherrie was excited about her contract extension and is “really grateful for the opportunity” to keep playing with the Boomers.

“The rest of the season is going to be very competitive. After playing in 11 games, I have learnt so much from everyone, and I’m happy to continue being a part of the Boomers!”

The Deakin Melbourne Boomers announced that Taylah Simmons has been released from the WNBL to allow her to pursue playing opportunities in Europe. Simmons joined the Boomers for the WNBL Cygnett 2023/24 season after playing with Casey in NBL1 and in Sloveuropean season.

The Boomers wish Taylah the best and thank her for contribution made in her time with the club.
