Magbegor to line up again for Boomers
The Deakin Melbourne Boomers are thrilled to welcome Ezi Magbegor back to the Club for her third consecutive season.
Off the back of taking out the Betty Watson Australian Youth Player of the Year last season, 20-year-old Magbegor will be firing to get back on the court for the Boomers this year.
But before that, the Deakin student’s already unusual WNBL off-season is about to ramp up to a whole new level – flying off next week to make her debut in the WNBA for the Seattle Storm.
After being drafted at pick no.12 last year, she will spend the whole 22-game season living and playing with the rest of the league’s teams at the IMG Academy, Bradenton, Florida.
Following her first season in the WNBA, we’ll then have front row seats to witness Magbegor in the WNBL.
Magbegor is yet another Boomers player to return to the roster this season, serving to only further strengthen the already strong base of players in, Maddie Garrick, Cayla George and Tess Madgen.
“I’m excited to be going into my third year with the Boomers.
“With a lot of returning players, we’ve built a strong team and I am looking forward to getting on the court with the team and really working this season.”
As part of the Australian Opals team to qualify for the, now postponed, Tokyo 2020 Olympics, her dreams of nabbing gold for her country will have to wait, but this year is still proving its potential to be jam-packed full of amazing experiences for Magbegor.
As one of the most exciting talents in women’s basketball worldwide, we can’t wait to see Ezi back in purple.
