GAME PREVIEW: BOOMERS AND LYNX
The Deakin Melbourne Boomers suit up tonight to take on the Perth Lynx in Ballarat for their rescheduled second game of the WNBL’s Reach Out round (raising mental health awareness and encourage people to reach out in times of need).
Proudly supported by Lifeline, Beyond Blue, Headspace Ballarat, Kids Helpline and Reach Out Australia, the WNBL would like to shine a light on continuing the conversation that it’s ok to not be ok and use this round as a reminder to check in regularly with loved ones.
A condensed round will see the Lynx featured in three of the four games as they play to catch up to the rest of the competition.
Overall, the Lynx have put together an incredibly talented and dangerous looking roster this season, with amazing experienced players, as well as great young talent.
The Lynx didn’t play first five rounds of the season, so with the potential to possess fresher legs than the Boomers, comes the possibility they are still working on ironing out the kinks.
Hopefully, the Boomers have had the advantage of time to get their systems and plays down pat to work in their favour.
Despite being late starters, the Lynx have wasted no time building momentum. After a close loss to Adelaide, a win in overtime against reigning champs the Southside Flyers, and then a comfortable victory over the UC Caps on Friday (88-69), means the Boomers will have to lock in defensively and halt scoring opportunities for the Lynx.
After an intensely physical win two days ago against Southside (final score 75-72), there may be some sore bodies but the Boomers will be invigorated and determined to make the most of gaining back on-court momentum after a disrupted previous round and two cancelled games.
In a battle against second and third on the ladder, Boomers will be looking to cement their dominance and add to their five wins (two losses).
Can the Boomers strike gold down the highway? We’ll have to wait and see!
