Liz Cambage has returned home to play for the Deakin Melbourne Boomers in the WNBL and one of the team's first stops this season will be the Geelong Arena on Friday October 13 where they will clash with Bendigo Spirit.
Following a successful return to Geelong last season, the WNBL will again showcase another in-season game, this time though preferring to play the big clash in the second round of the new season.
The Boomers have recruited strongly and will be led into action by international stars Liz Cambage and Jenna O'Hea, while Louella Tomlinson is another prized recruit returning to Melbourne following a decorated career overseas.
Also returning for the Boomers are star guards Maddie Garrick, Britt Smart, Bec Cole and 2016/17 WNBL Rising Star, Monique Conti.
"We're really looking forward to returning to Geelong and showcasing the WNBL," said Maddie Garrick, adding "The league looks really good this season, some high calibre players like Liz and Jenna have returned, which is exciting for all the fans."
"Geelong is such a strong and passionate basketball community, plus we have a huge contingent of our Deakin University family in the region and no doubt they will be keen to come along and support their team."
