The Deakin Melbourne Boomers extend our heartfelt congratulations to Tess Madgen on her extraordinary basketball career.

On Monday evening, Madgen announced her retirement on Instagram, bringing to a close a remarkable journey in the sport, which included over 257 WNBL games, 132 of which were played with the Boomers.

Throughout her 14 WNBL seasons, Madgen amassed an impressive 3,279 points, 1,278 rebounds, and 869 assists. Madgen was not only a valued leader at the Boomers but also a pivotal player in our 2021-22 Championship win.

Her impact extended beyond the WNBL, as she proudly represented the Australian Opals on the global stage, earning a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, two World Championship medals (2018 silver and 2022 bronze), and a 2023 Asia Cup bronze.

We thank Tess Madgen for her dedication and the unforgettable moments she provided. Her legacy will continue to inspire for years to come.
