Boomers welcome Lauryn Hippolite for remainder of 21/22 WNBL Season

The Deakin Melbourne Boomers are excited to welcome NZ Tall Fern, Lauryn Hippolite, to the club for the 21/22 WNBL Season.

The guard is a member of the New Zealand Tall Ferns squad, along with Boomers tall Penina Davidson and coach Guy Molloy at the helm.

Hippolite’s involvement with the Tall Ferns helped secure the opportunity to play in the WNBL as a development player.

“It was something I couldn’t pass up,” says Hippolite.

“I have always had the goal to play in Australia and this presented itself in a way to get better so that in the future I could play professionally.”

Originally from Nelson, on New Zealand’s South Island, Hippolite attended Hawaii Pacific University and until recently, was based in Christchurch, attending Lincoln University and playing basketball for the Canterbury Wildcats in the New Zealand National Basketball League.

Signing with the Boomers and playing in the WNBL is a massive opportunity for the 21-year-old, not just professionally but also as an opportunity to experience Melbourne for the first time.

“I am most excited about getting the opportunity to train and play with some very very high calibre players and expose myself to a professional basketball environment.”

“I am also excited about experiencing the city of Melbourne as I haven’t been here before! Can’t wait to make new memories and learn as much as I can.”
