The rising form of Monique Conti and the start of the WNBA season for Steph Talbot and Lindsay Allen highlighted a busy week for the Deakin Melbourne Boomers.

Starring for the Melbourne Tigers in two big wins at SEABL level, Boomers guard Monique Conti enjoyed a great weekend with 24pts, 4rbs, 2stl and 4 treys against the Basketball Australia CoE team and 21pts, 3rbs, 6ast and 5 treys against Frankston.

The dynamo has already dropped a league-high 27 triples across eight games and is averaging an impressive 19.1pts and 7rbs per game.

Ezi Magbegor helped the Diamond Valley Eagles split the weekend, going for 14pts, 8rbs and 2blk in a tough 2pt loss at Kilsyth, before dropping 18pts and taking 11rbs against the CoE.

Chelsea D’Angelo was in action for Kilsyth, scoring 6pts in the win against Ezi’s Eagles, while in the Big V, Jaz Shelley’s Southern Peninsula Sharks enjoyed a weekend off.

Over in Perth, Ash Grant’s strong season continued for Lakeside Lightning with the athletic young forward delivering 17pts and 8rbs in a strong 36pt win against Mandurah Magic.

In the United States, the WNBA season got underway with Steph Talbot helping Phoenix Mercury register two wins, while Lindsay Allen found herself as the starting point guard in the Las Vegas Aces’ first ever WNBA game after crossing over from New York Liberty.

Both Steph and Lindsay will be back in action during the week as the frantic WNBA season starts to heat up.
