Boomers Front Office Continues To Expand
The front office at the Deakin Melbourne Boomers continues to expand with award-winning basketball administrator Alison Cody joining the Boomers family in the role of Membership, Community and Operations Manager.
Following a long and highly successful tenure as General Manager of McKinnon Basketball Association, which included winning the 2012 and 2016 Basketball Victoria Administrator of the Year, Cody joins an exceptional off-court team at the Boomers that already boasts Lauren Jackson AO (Assistant General Manager) and Justin Nelson (General Manager).
“I’m really excited to be joining the Deakin Melbourne Boomers, they run a highly-regarded operation and are doing fantastic things for girls’ basketball and the larger landscape of female sport in Victoria,” said Cody.
“The opportunity came up and the timing was right. McKinnon has been a huge part of mine and my family’s lives for the past 16 years. I am proud of the position I leave the club in but I’m ready for a new challenge and am looking forward to the move to the WNBL.
“The Boomers community values are aligned with mine so that was another selling point to make the move.
“I also really want to thank the McKinnon Cougars for the journey I’ve been on with them. I’ve built some fantastic friendships through the club and I look forward to seeing it continue to go from strength to strength in the years ahead. I’m hoping to see many McKinnon faces at Boomers games over the coming years,” added Cody.
Boomers GM Justin Nelson was delighted to be adding another experienced sports administrator with considerable management experience to the club’s front office.
“Alison is a proven performer when it comes to managing a sports business and will be a valuable asset to the Boomers family,” said Nelson.
“We want to keep raising the bar at the Deakin Melbourne Boomers and with Alison bringing such a strong skill set to the organisation we are looking forward to taking significant steps forward right across our business.”
Alison will officially start with the Boomers in late May.
