Boomers Announce Youngest Ever Member – Welcome Harry

Basketball fans across Melbourne are starting to get excited ahead of the 2017-18 WNBL season with home team, the Deakin Melbourne Boomers, attracting an army of new members.
With the best seats at State Basketball Centre quickly being snapped up by eager supporters wanting to join the Boomers Family and see the likes of Liz Cambage and Jenna O'Hea in action, the club has today announced its youngest ever member in the club's 34-year history.
Harry Jackson celebrated Mother's Day with a gift of his own from proud Mum, Lauren Jackson. The former Aussie great, who has recently moved into the Assistant General Managers role at the Boomers, wanted to make sure little three-month old Harry joined the family club for the coming season.
"I've recently moved into the Assistant General Manager position and one of my key responsibilities is growing our membership program, so I didn't have to look far to sign up another excited young Boomer," said Lauren.
"Harry isn't quite ready to start throwing around his first basketball, but he will be attending all of the Boomers games this season, he'll be wearing his Boomers membership scarf and all our junior members receive a mini-basketball as well. I'm sure he'll enjoy that as he gets a bit older."
"Right now Harry is our youngest member, which is kind of special for him. We really value being a family club and I want all the kids out there, along with their parents, to come and join Harry and myself as members. It's important we all step up and support this great club," added Lauren.
With junior season memberships starting from just $39, Lauren is urging Melbourne grassroots basketball players and families to take up the great offer and come and experience seeing Opals stars like Cambage and O'Hea in action.
