2023-24 Season Captains ANNOUNCED!
Today, the Deakin Melbourne Boomers announced the co-captains for the 2023-24 WNBL season.
Congratulations to Keely Froling and Kristy Wallace, who will be co-captains for the season!
Both players were at today’s training when the news was announced. Kristy is still on the road to recovering from her knee injury and is working towards on an early December return.
Kristy said she is lucky to be among “the incredible leaders” that have previously lead the team and is “excited” to be co-captains with Keely.
“Keely is someone who I grew up playing basketball with, so it’s pretty special getting to co-captain the group with her.”
Keely had a great Boomers debut on Wednesday night against Adelaide Lightning and reached over 500 career rebounds in the WNBL.
Keely said she is “really honoured” to be leading the Boomers this season and it was “pretty cool” to be voted in by her peers.
“There are any number of people that could be captain and this is shown with how strong our leadership group is and the culture we are building where everyone has a voice.”
The Melbourne Boomers have come home from Adelaide and are ready to take on cross-town rivals the Southside Flyers at the State Basketball Centre on Saturday, November 4 at 7:30pm. Those unable to cheer the Boomers on live can tune in via 9 NOW
